Can Skin Care Go Bad?

How To Avoid Ruining Your Skin Care Products

Sadly, your skin care products won’t stay fresh forever. Over time, exposure to air, light, moisture and bacteria breaks down products and causes them to degrade. While this won’t do serious harm to your skin, it doesn’t do it any favors.

When a product is past its prime:

  • Bacteria and mold grow

  • Active ingredients lose their potency

  • Oils become rancid

  • Ingredients like peptides and Vitamin C oxidize

Over the years we have definitely came across some customers stating that their skin care has gone bad.

At Atlas Rose we focus on clean beauty. Only organic, all natural and no harsh preservatives in our products, work the best for skin remedies.

We found loads of research that supports harsh preservatives can cause all manner of skin issues, including 'clogged pours, breakouts, and irritation'. So we’ve made it our mission to eliminate harsh preservatives all together. However, we do sometimes have an issue with product going bad quicker. But we would rather have a product come back bad, then have a negative reaction to the skin from harsh chemicals.

How to avoid this?

  • Because all the product is organic keep product in a cool/ dry areas in your house nothing in driect heat or water.

  • Avoid Stockpiling Your Skin Care Products. Be sure you are not stockpiling old skin care products. It can be easy to hang onto products for too long, especially if they aren’t in regular rotation.

We know it’s hard to say goodbye, but tossing your products when they’re past their prime is part of a healthy skin care routine.

  • Our product only lasts for six months to a year maximum

  • keep your hands clean when you’re using the moisturizers

  • Ensure Your Products Are Properly Sealed

With natural and organic ingredients, it is common for there to be color, scent and texture variance from batch to batch. If you aren’t sure about the state of your skin care product, feel free to reach out to us and we’ll be happy to help guide you!
